The memo reportedly came from Russian cyber interceptions of emails tied to Leonard Benardo of the Open Society Foundations. Durham’s investigators concluded the messages were likely authentic.

Despite knowing this, senior FBI officials chose not to investigate. The FBI briefed Director Comey and others but dismissed the intelligence as not credible.
