For too long, Queenslanders have been given the illusion of choice, for too long Queenslanders
have been unknowingly thrown into subservience and convinced that positive change would come
from voting one or the other.
Well, that’s not the reality. What is, however, is the fact that they BOTH want net zero emissions,
they BOTH want to see the demise of the coal industry which is vital to our economy and way of
life.
Yesterday Robbie Katter MP, State Member for Traeger moved a motion in relation to emission
targets, to denounce Queensland’s emission reduction targets and renewable energy plan.
When I rose to speak on the motion I mentioned how according to Construction Skills Queensland,
the green energy transition will cost Queensland taxpayers up to $14 billion per annum.
Queensland’s version of Malcolm Turnbull
You read that correctly, that’s $14 billion each year with no end date in sight, not only would this smash the state’s real productive economy; it will result in moneys having to be ripped out of other areas of
our economy and our departments.
When it came time to vote this is what the chamber looked like, empty on the left and ready to vote
against the motion on the right. This is a deliberate and spiteful plan to avoid being seen voting
with Labor.
The LNP in that moment were backed into a corner, can’t vote for the motion because they already
sold Queensland’s soul along with Labor a few weeks prior and can’t vote against the motion
because then Queenslanders would finally realize the two major parties aren’t too dissimilar from
one another.
Queensland’s net zero targets are absolutely a destination without a road map. This year in
October is YOUR chance to show them that you will no longer submit to their rule.
Voting to build a stronger crossbench will allow us to keep the government accountable, it will allow
Queensland to excel into the future and to do what is best for the people, not the political party.
