The Kettering location says it is about safety. A “safe and respectful environment for all guests” (Newsweek). Safety? Respect? Or control? Who decides which teens are safe enough to eat? Who decides which kids are trustworthy?
Parents are furious. Outrage is everywhere. Social media is blowing up. Well-behaved teenagers? Doesn’t matter. Rules are rules. Many are calling it overly broad, unfair, ridiculous (Today).
Do you see the trend? Everything must be monitored. Everything must be controlled. Kids can’t eat alone. Teens can’t exist without adult oversight. What’s next? No walking to school alone? No sitting in parks without a guardian?
